Triptorelin

Also known as: Decapeptyl, Gonapeptyl, Trelstar

Hormonal / GnRH AnalogueGrey areaHalf-life: 3h

Overview

Triptorelin is a long-acting GnRH agonist used medically for conditions such as prostate cancer, endometriosis, precocious puberty, and assisted reproduction protocols. It is included in peptide libraries because it is a clinically established peptide hormone analogue.

How it works

Acts as a potent GnRH receptor agonist. Initial stimulation increases LH and FSH, followed by receptor desensitisation and suppression of gonadotropin secretion with continued exposure. This reduces downstream sex hormone production.

Primary uses

  • GnRH analogue research
  • Gonadotropin suppression
  • Prostate cancer treatment context
  • Endometriosis treatment context
  • Fertility protocol research

Storage and preparation

Store according to product-specific labelling. Long-acting depot products often have specific storage requirements and should not be treated like standard lyophilised research peptides.

Clinical depot formulations require product-specific preparation. Research material should be reconstituted only according to supplier instructions. Do not generalise depot reconstitution across products.
