Overview
Terlipressin is a synthetic vasopressin analogue used medically in selected severe liver-related and bleeding contexts. It is a clinically established peptide analogue with vasoconstrictive properties.
How it works
Acts as a prodrug that is converted to lysine vasopressin. It primarily activates V1 receptors, causing splanchnic vasoconstriction, reducing portal pressure, and supporting renal perfusion in specific hepatorenal contexts.
