Overview
Setmelanotide is a melanocortin-4 receptor agonist approved for chronic weight management in specific rare genetic obesity disorders. It is included here as a clinically validated peptide pathway drug, not as a general fat-loss peptide.
How it works
Selectively activates MC4R, a central melanocortin receptor involved in appetite and energy expenditure regulation. In patients with certain genetic defects in the leptin-melanocortin pathway, MC4R activation can reduce hunger and support weight loss.
