Semax
Overview
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from ACTH(4-7) developed by Russian scientists in the 1980s. It has been approved in Russia for the treatment of stroke, cognitive impairment, and peptic ulcers. Widely used as a nootropic for focus, memory, and neuroprotection.
How it works
Increases BDNF and NGF expression in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex, supporting neuroplasticity and cognitive function. Modulates dopaminergic, serotonergic, and cholinergic neurotransmission. Inhibits enkephalinase enzymes, prolonging endogenous opioid activity. Enhances cerebral blood flow and oxygen utilisation in brain tissue.

Storage and preparation
Store lyophilised at -20°C. Reconstituted nasal spray solution stable at 4°C for 30 days. Do not freeze reconstituted solution.
For intranasal use: reconstitute with sterile saline or preserved nasal saline. Common: 30mg vial with 15ml saline gives 2000mcg/ml. Use nasal atomiser. Start with lower doses to assess tolerance.
