Pasireotide

Overview
Pasireotide is a synthetic somatostatin analogue used medically for Cushing disease and acromegaly in selected patients. It is included as an approved peptide therapeutic with endocrine signalling relevance.
How it works
Binds multiple somatostatin receptor subtypes, especially SSTR5, suppressing ACTH secretion in Cushing disease and growth hormone secretion in acromegaly. It can also alter insulin and glucagon secretion, which explains hyperglycaemia risk.
