Gonadorelin

Also known as: GnRH, LHRH

Hormonal / FertilityGrey areaHalf-life: 0.08h

Overview

Gonadorelin is synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone used clinically in diagnostic testing and fertility-related contexts. It is also commonly discussed in hormone-axis research because pulsatile GnRH signalling controls luteinising hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone release.

How it works

Binds GnRH receptors in the anterior pituitary. Pulsatile exposure stimulates LH and FSH secretion, while continuous exposure can downregulate pituitary responsiveness. LH and FSH then regulate gonadal steroidogenesis, spermatogenesis, and follicular development.

Primary uses

  • GnRH stimulation
  • LH and FSH research
  • Fertility research
  • Hormonal axis assessment

Storage and preparation

Store lyophilised material refrigerated or frozen according to supplier specification. Protect from light. Reconstituted solution is typically refrigerated and used within a short validated stability window.

Reconstitute with sterile water or bacteriostatic water depending on research application. Add diluent slowly, gently swirl, and avoid agitation.
