Cagrilintide
Overview
Cagrilintide is a long-acting amylin analogue being investigated in combination with semaglutide (CagriSema) for obesity treatment. Early trials show promising additive effects on weight loss when combined with GLP-1 agonists.
How it works
Acts as an amylin receptor agonist. Amylin is co-secreted with insulin from pancreatic beta cells and works synergistically with GLP-1 to suppress appetite, slow gastric emptying, and reduce glucagon secretion. The combination of amylin and GLP-1 agonism produces superior weight loss compared to either mechanism alone.

What to expect

Days 1–14

Storage and preparation
Store lyophilised powder at -20°C. Once reconstituted, store at 4°C and use within 28 days. Protect from light.
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water. Add slowly to vial wall, gently swirl to dissolve. Do not shake vigorously.
